Ron Begy's Garage

My car broke down in Ontario on my way out of Rochester and the only mechanic open said they couldn’t even look at it for about a week. My dad suggested Ron Begy’s saying they always treated him fair in the past so even though they weren’t open over the weekend, I got my car over there and called the office first thing Monday morning to discuss my situation. Mr. Begy was kind and was able to fix my vehicle the same day which I absolutely was not expecting. I had such a fantastic experience I decided to leave my son’s car with him for inspection as well letting him know he could take his time with it if he had other vehicles to tend to. That vehicle was also completed timely and with a smile! I do not live in Ontario but will definitely be using Mr. Begy as a trusted mechanic in the future!

Great place for an oil change, inspection or anything you may need. You won’t usually need an appointment if you come early. I know I can count on these gentlemen to do a fantastic job every time.

I think I jinxed myself from reading the reviews of this place before stopping by today. I used to always walk-in and get my car inspected and I’d wait for it. I read these reviews about how they were turned away and I felt lucky that I never was and that I’ve always been able to get in and out quick and easy. Well today, that didn’t happen and I had the same experience as everyone else with the 1 star reviews. I’m newer to the area and always thought I found a hidden gem in this place, but I guess not anymore. I have no idea where to go now! They said I could come back next week because I didn’t want to leave my car with them and I even asked if I could come back later today but nope! I’m disappointed.

I went into have my oil changed and was greeted pretty quickly. I said what I needed and went on to ask about how long it would take. The man behind the counter said it would a 15 minute wait and then another 45 minutes to change the oil. I wasn’t sure if he was being serious so when he asked if I had time to wait I said actually no, and was going to explain I had an appointment in 45 minutes. I didn’t get the chance because he abruptly said “okay, catch you some other time” and slammed the door in my face as he headed back to the garage. I was stunned. He was completely rude and even the other customer in the waiting area was shocked at his behavior but did say the man is always rude. Very disappointed and will definitely not be heading back there again.

This place was always my go to when I needed a quick oil change or NYS inspection. However the last few times I’ve stopped in for services I’m reluctantly greeted by a grumpy man behind the counter then asked a ton of unnecessary questions and given snide comments/looks back. I don’t know what the man’s problem is, if it’s because I’m a woman, a mother or have multiple children but the unprofessionalism and attitude is too much! No wonder you can always walk in for service.. no one wants to go there! Needless to say, I’ll drive to Webster and not be treated as though I’m beneath the guy working!
