Sam's Club Tire & Battery

I needed a new set of tires and had heard good things about the Sam's Club tire/auto department, so I dropped by. I spoke with Alex Price who gave me honest answers and helped me select tires that fit what I was looking for - not just the price tag (although I did wind up choosing Goodyear). He was polite, professional, honest, and efficient. I came back that afternoon to drop the car off, got a necessary $1.75 hot dog, and I was out of there in 30 minutes. Alex also recommended I upgrade my membership which paid for itself in this transaction. Excellent customer service and I would gladly recommend Alex and his department to anyone needing tires. The employees at this store are always more than helpful. The system that Sams Club has arranged for how customers can communicate with the tire center is majorly flawed though. No one wants to talk to an offshore call center when they are just trying to call a tire center to see if they have the tires you need and available time to install. They give the offshore call centers more authority to check and honor prices than the people working at the store as well. It just doesn't make any sense at all. You have perfectly capable employees in the store.

Came here because I ordered tires after a competitor told me I had a puncture in one of the tires and needed to replace 2 as a result. The employee with Sam’s inspected it and determined there was no puncture and the tire should be fine until it’s time to replace them. This saved me hundreds and when the time does come for replacement, Sams will have my business.

We bought a battery from the Lakeshore location only because Hoover and Trussville were out of stock. My wife's car was in the bay for an hour with one, and sometimes both employees on duty trying to change it. This battery's is a simple 24F top terminal battery that I can change at home in under 10 minutes----2 terminals and a hold-down bracket. I suppose that I should be thankful that they at least took the plastic caps off the terminals before attaching the cables. I wasn't surprised, though, as this is consistently the worst Sam's Club in the Birmingham area. Most of the employees move in slow motion and manage is a joke. Even though Lakeshore is closer for me, I try to go to Hoover or Trussville most of the time. The difference between the stores is striking.

I went with a flat tire they made me leave to go get my paperwork, which was in my truck on the side of the road. Something so simple as looking up my member number. Then I came back to get my spare fixed and they didn’t even take the time to go look at my truck to see what I needed. Instead was trying to sell me a new tire rather than just listening. I got so frustrated I left and ended up just going to the one in Hoover. Which by the way is the best sam’s club in Birmingham. The customer service there is amazing. I will never come back to this tire center. The do not seek resolutions nor try to help you. The service is trash.
