My wife took our 2018 Ford Edge to a nearby smog and repair shop for its first smog check. The car was running perfectly with no issues at all. Shortly after she arrived, they told her something was "damaged" and needed to be fixed immediately for $149, or replaced for $339. When she sent me photos, it looked like one of the ignition coils had been cut or scraped open--definitely not how it left our garage. I told her to leave right away. They ended up failing the smog test for a "visual" issue, claiming the wire had been chewed by rats. That explanation doesn't add up--our car has always been garaged at both our old and new homes. They even had to remove the engine cover to find the wire, which makes the situation seem even more suspicious. What's worse, the part they claimed needed repla
