I went to Spectra Auto Services for a routine synthetic oil change on my 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. While the oil change itself was reasonably priced, the predatory upsells they tried to push on me were entirely unacceptable. When I went to pay, they handed me an estimate for nearly $800 to "Remove & Replace Lower Engine Oil Pan," claiming my car had a significant oil leak. Because my car is relatively new and I hadn't seen a single drop of oil on my driveway, I declined the service and went to get a second opinion. Since then, my car has been comprehensively inspected by both a highly-rated independent shop (Dynamic Automotive) and an official Volkswagen Dealership service center. Both mechanics independently confirmed that my engine is completely dry and there is absolutely zero oil leaki

I dropped my car off at Spectra because the battery wasn't holding a charge, and after a couple days they quoted me $440-something over the phone for battery replacement. Wat?! Ok. I'll pay the $80 inspection fee (after I'd explicitly told them I was just there for a new battery) to have them release my car so I can take it to another place, also within walking distance, that's doing the job for a reasonable $250. Spectra's prices are cuckoo. Yikes.

I have been going to Spectra for over five years. They are fantastic. I never want to go anywhere else. They are always fair and straightforward and do great work. My car is from 2007 and runs great. I am so happy I found this place.
