Customer Reviews
Absolutely recommend. Very clean and organized. This shop offers nearly every tool and equipment you can think of to work on your vehicle. They have 2 post lifts and multi-post runway lifts. Plenty of bays to work on your vehicle but all are first come first serve. No you cannot work on your vehicle in the parking lot, only an available bay. This is a self service shop only! Must know what you’re doing because employees are only there to assist you and answer your questions,NOT help you rebuild your engine, change your transmission fluids, and turn your wrench. You’re charged $12 an hour while working on your vehicle, but that’s a lot better than getting charge $100+ an hour for a mechanic to do the work for you so I’d say it’s a great price.
Back in the old days you had to be in the Military or relative in order to use the shop. Now, as long as you're approved to be on base, you can rent a bay out. Being a civilian, this worked out great for us! We were originally going there to change our fuel pump out, but found out our exhaust was the problem; pictures included. Only thing that we don't like is that they no longer have the paint booths to rent out. Hopefully, someday they'll have it back.
This place is the best military benefit I've gotten! Of course, I discovered it too late. I'm a certified YT mechanic now, haha. Every job takes me twice as long, but I'm learning with their help and tools. These guys are like older brothers. They may dog you a bit for needing help, but they don't mind giving it. This place is a life saver.
This place is an empowering Montessori available for military consumption. Earlier this week I received a price quote from Firestone to change only my spark plugs. They want over $400.00. Sprockets provides an entire bay with professional tools and equipment as well as expert supervision for less than $20.00 an hour. This place is highly underrated and a little known jewel at Fort Cavazos. Come and see what you can fix on a shoestring budget. 😊
Excellent facility that is a benefit to all soldiers and their immediate family. Keep it in mind that it is a DIY type shop with an option for their mechanics to perform work. They might not have all the specialty tools for some obscure repair- but enough for you to accomplish most automotive maintenance. Come in with thick skin and don't be butthurt and you will be alright 😅
