The Avalon of New Albany

My sister and I visited when looking for a place for our mom and met with Chastity. She was friendly, honest and helpful beyond measure. Avalon is beautiful but during the initial conversation, it was clear this was not a fit for us and she did not waste our time trying to sell a spot. Instead, she and her colleague gave us guidance and much needed advice in our journey. Wish it would have been the place with such great staff!

Our experience at the Avalon has been great. All the staff is super helpful and kind to my grandpa and helps him in any way he may need. They have lots of activities to keep residents entertained which my grandpa loves. The facility is very clean and the kitchen staff/ chef does an amazing job with the meals. From the initial meeting with Sharron where she answered all our questions to him now feeling at home I know we made the right choice choosing the Avalon for my family.

Pros and Cons Pros: Majority of the staff are friendly. The food is great. The facility itself is clean and beautiful. Cons: speaking of Memory Care only, I had both of my parents in Memory Care there from June to November. There were videos in their rooms and bathrooms. I was able to see back 4 days videos. Before moving them in, I met with the director of nursing for Memory care and 2 other witnesses. I told her what kind if Care my parents needed which she did not write down. When I questioned why she wasn't writing it down, she pointed to her head and said she got it all up there. Red flag ignored because I'm too trusting. She later denied I ever told her any of it even after I typed out a Care plan 3 months after their care was being neglected. They were supposed to.ge

I have so many wonderful things to say about The Avalon New Albany. Let me start with the amazing staff. From day one Sharon greeted me with a charming lobby sign welcoming me, then she listened to my Dads needs and met every one of them. We found a perfect one bedroom apt for my Dad and she made each and every step as easy as possible. I not only found a wonderful home for my Dad, I also made a friend. She’s amazing. Then Colleen stepped in and got all the paperwork organized and was first in my Dads room to welcome him and give him a tour . Ken stepped in and helped me solve a small key issue even though it was outside of his responsibilities. He was happy to help. Every resident has been kind and welcoming. The Avalon of New Albany is truly a gem in senior care. The staff is incredibly compassionate, attentive, and professional. The facility is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and the residents seem genuinely happy and well-cared for. They treat your loved ones like family, and that peace of mind is priceless. Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality assisted living.
