The Manor House Independent Living at Branchlands

After looking at several places for my mom to transition from living on her own into independent living (and eventually beyond), Branchlands was an easy choice to make. Not only is it in a lovely, warm and welcoming setting, the staff who work there are beyond kind and gracious. They helped me with every step of the process and have been easily accessible when I have questions and concerns. I feel a true partnership with them. The living spaces are clean and well appointed, the dining services are tasty, the activities are plentiful and appropriate, the residents are so sweet, but most of all, the feeling that my mom is in a place on the east coast where she is well taken care of while I live on the west coast is priceless. I highly recommend Branchlands to those of you who may be looking

Nine months ago it became apparent I needed to find a place for my 93 year old mother. I needed to find something that continued to give her independence yet peace of mind (for all of us). I actually looked into 8 communities (narrowed down to 8 after much research). I can honestly say from my first phone call to Branchlands to moving my mother in was absolutely incredible. MaryAnne was not only helpful and informative but made us all feel welcomed. My mother’s apartment is great. It was spotless when she moved in and everyone made her feel like this was her home. Dining room is lovely. My mother loves the food. She also loves the outdoor gathering areas. My mother was not thrilled about moving. Now she says it’s the best thing she could have done. My mother has lived at Branchland since 2020. She states that they have been very short staffed with a high turnover of cooks, waitresses, etc. Management is often dismissive of special requests for improvements in healthier meals, dress code of staff, cleanliness of walls and elevators. Safety issues have occurred with outside doors being partially left open by kitchen staff and an elevator that has yet to be repaired. She has stated that some staff are kind, and the residents do help each other. But, overall, Branchland is not the independent living facility it was originally advertised to her when she first moved in.

Please accept my gratitude for the excellent care and services that your wonderful staff members have provided for my mother over the last six years. I have, and will continue, to recommend Branchlands Apartment Community to other families who seek a safe, but independent environment for their elder loved ones. I have been thoroughly pleased with your staff and management and I am convinced that you have the highest quality of affordable personalized care available in Charlottesville and surrounding area. My husband and I were newcomers to Virginia, Charlottesville, and Branchlands when we came here to be near family seven years ago. It was pure good fortune that we found Branchlands! First for the both of us, and then for me as an active widow, Branchlands has provided many acquaintances, some becoming special friends. It has activities and transportation to pick and choose from as well as respecting those desiring more independence. But, for me what makes Branchlands even more special is its setting - the greenery, trees, ponds, birds and wildlife - all which I see from my windows or along the many nearby walks. A wonderful location close to so many things, and in a beautiful natural setting. Come check it out.
