The Mitchell Homes

Mom had the best care at the Mitchell Homes. It was a true home environment. All the caregivers were like family and Mr. Mitchell showed concern and compassion for all the residents. It was a breath of fresh air after having Mom in two other care facilities that felt more like institutions. I would recommend the Mitchell Homes for anyone looking for a caring and home like environment.

My Mom spent her last weeks at The Mitchell Home in Westerville. She had been through assisted living and memory care at "big box” facility. I was not pleased with the care at that place (or sometimes lack of consistent care) which I witnessed. She was in an advanced state of Alzheimer's when I moved her to The Mitchell Home. However, even at 92, with that horrible disease, and just after hip replacement surgery, we saw improvement in her ability to engage and communicate with us. The staff was very attentive, kept us well informed, and always seemed to be right on top of her situation. I was sad that she did not have more time at this facility as her quality of life, even with Alzheimer’s, was higher than expected for that period.

Heaven on earth is the only way to describe The Mitchell House! It will live in our hearts forever. From the minute I spoke with George on the phone, I knew I had found exactly what my mother needed. After I met George at The Mitchell House for a tour, I said with joy, "Sign us up, we are in!" If you have ever looked at extended care facilities for your loved one, you know it is not a pleasant experience. I felt such HUGE relief knowing I had secured the perfect place for my mother. It is hard to put into words how truly amazing this place is! My Grandmother transferred to TMH after being in a nursing facility. Everything about this experience met and surpassed our expectations. The care she received was so individualized. The support our family received was incredible as we embarked on this journey of end of life care. I cannot express my thanks and love for the staff and Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell. If you are looking at facilities for your loved one, do not overlook this opportunity.

Our mother was a resident at Mitchell Home of Westerville for almost three years. She was loved, very well cared for and thrived in the group home environment. They baked cupcakes with her, made signs with messages to me and took photos of her to send to me since I was an out of state daughter. I called every week and they would help hold the phone so I could talk to her. We couldn’t have ask for a better place and care for mom. They truly love all the residents and take care of them as if they are family. Mr.Mitchell would make an entire Thanksgiving meal and bring it to the residents. I highly recommend Mitchell Home of Westerville if you are in need of this type of care for a loved one.
