The Virginian

Staff isn’t as friendly as people claim to be. I would be working with my patient there and I would be passing by, going place to place with them and have staff greet my patient but completely ignoring me and not saying a word towards me, despite making eye contact. As a healthcare worker of 5 years, this is one of the most rude and disrespectful things I have seen from staff, at a retirement home. They only make you feel welcomed, IF you’re a resident; totally not cool and lack basic respect for others.

My mom moved into The Virginian last year and it’s now totally remodeled and gorgeous. The staff is great - I was there over the weekend and when I arrived I was greeted by two people at the front desk who were very informed about the community. Security is very good. There’s a new bistro in the lobby area with a great menu. My mom raves about the food. I hear they have a new executive chef who comes from the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. Very happy with our decision to have her move here.

I had such a great experience at Virginian Senior Living. The staff here are honestly wonderful — so kind and personable, it really feels like they get to know you instead of treating everyone the same. The whole place has a very welcoming vibe. I also really appreciated how much they offer on-site. There’s a gym, a salon, and even a library, which makes it easy to stay active and connected. They also put on fun events that give people something to look forward to, and you can tell they care about keeping things lively and engaging. Overall, it feels like a community, not just a building — and that’s what makes all the difference.

I recently visited the Virginian. It's newly renovated independent living units are spectacular! Jenna gave me a tour of their brand new memory care area. It's beautiful and seems like comfortable, home-like environment.

If I could give no stars I would. When you walk in it looks beautiful as if you made the right choice. But when you go down to the rehab area called Cardinal it's as if you walked into Shawshank. They put my 90 year old father who was in rehab after being discharged from the hospital in a room in the corner where no nurses can see inside and no cameras to check if he falls. We asked the nurse if there were cameras and she laughed. The rooms are old and rundown. No shower in the room. As if they put him there to die. We are finding him an alternative ASAP. Don't be deceived by the first floor lobby decor. The basement is deplorable and no place for a 90 year old man who can't take care of himself due to recovering from pneumonia and an infection should have to stay. Please don't bring your
