The Woodlands at Canterfield

My Mom was in respite care for literally six days. This is a beautiful community and no doubt great for independent living residents. However, in just a short time, my Mom experienced significant neglect. She was left alone during a medical crisis that resulted in her hospitalization. Additionally, I found pills that were supposed to be administered to my Mom, on the floor of her apartment. Despite having been told they were change her hearing aid batteries because of her vision issues, on two separate occasions including the day she had a medical emergency, her batteries were dead. The most egregious thing was my Mom's hygiene was neglected resulting in a widespread, welded and beet red infection in her groin area that was full of pus. I should have known better. My Dad, Verg, moved in to Woodlands at the end of July 2024. This facility has been nothing but a joy to my father. Everytime we get together with him, he said he couldn't have picked a better place to live. He loves his apartment, all of the staff and how clean everything is kept. The nurses and staff are concerned about the well being of everyone and the food is the best. One of our favorite things to do is to sit out on the patio. They have so many activities, you just have to join in. Woodlands is a place to call home. Kathi

I moved my mother into the Memory Support Unit of The Woodlands at Canterfield in late July 2024 after an extensive regional search. I have been thoroughly impressed with both the facility and staff since mom became a resident. The facility is new, very well thought-out and impeccably decorated. The memory support and assisted living components are separated and the memory support wing is a dedicated memory support unit. The facility offers an extensive array of activities and special use rooms that add to the appeal of The Woodlands. The dining room is spacious and inviting. The food here is very good and nutritious. We began looking at the Woodlands about a year ago. Dawn and Denise were both very helpful in showing us around, and then eventually my mom. Always with no pressure or timeline needed. When it was finally time that mom was ready to move, it went very smoothly. The move in process was great, and mom is VERY happy with all of the staff who are so friendly at all times. She is making friends after just a month or so, which is so good for her after being alone for the past 4 years. Thanks to all of your staff. And you have such a beautiful facility!

My mother in law lived here for a time in a 2 bedroom, and it was wonderfull! The staff, from top to bottom, are knowledgeable, caring, intentional, attentive and lively. She was happy there and found a new community after needing to move from her home of 60 years. Regular daily routines and special events are thoughtfully planned. Her granddaughter once commented...it's like she's living at college...such a cool environment
