Called to pay my employees bill for her. They wanted to tack on an ADDITIONAL $20 just to USE A DEBIT CARD OVER THE PHONE. This is bad business. Most merchant service bank fees are between 1.5 and 2.5 percent (I own a business and I’m well versed in merchant transaction fees) NOT the 4% that they are tacking on. Her bill was just under $500, which made the fee JUST TO PAY THEM with a debit card $19.40. In addition, your merchant service fees are a standard part of doing business. It’s just bad business to make your customers pay that. If you don’t want to accept credit cards because of the fees, then just don’t do it.
