United Smog Check

United Smog has got to be the best kept secret in Salinas. I am very picky who works on my vehicles, as I do my own mechanical work myself, (every mechanic is out to screw you)... That being said I have an 1986 Honda Accord and had issues with it running right. I'm not a foreign mechanic and was at a loss. I went to two other shops, one in Paso Robles that gave up, and Salinas Honda that had their 40 year supervisor tech mechanic try and repair. He was rude, cocky and if how to repair is not in the computer they have, they don't know what the hell they're doing. He said..... this car is junk and will never pass smog or run right!! Pissed off I called around and Jose at United Smog (owner) answered and I told him the story, his response was... I can fix it, bring it in. I was speechless !!

Called for a Star Certified Smog. Lady who answered said they were. Advised I'd be there (about 5 min.) just to show and be told they were closing for lunch. Ridiculous. Why not advise your 'customers' asking questions that you close for lunch and will be available after a given time? 🙄 It's common sense! 😒

Needed a Smog Check done stat for my car, my husband was recommended to come here. No wait line. Fast n Good service.

They took my car in right away and provided prompt service. The pricing was mentioned upfront. I just did a smog test here but the good Customer Service wants me to take my car there sometime to see how well they can perform maintenance and repairs

I was very unhappy, took my vehicle in for a diagnostic, never received a call to let me know the the cost of repairs before proceeding and they made repairs without my permission or acknowledgment of the cost and was charged $450 for the repairs very unprofessional. Jose at the front desk said he was too busy to call, and he cusses. They’re ripoff’s, the description of service receipt says I approved by phone, that never happened, I never received a call from them, I had to call and didn’t hear back from them until the next day in the late evening right before closing. And they round up to the full hour to charge, my previous mechanic went by partial hours, if the job was one and a half hours he would charge 1.5 hours.
