Valvoline Express Care

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Valvoline Express Care in Athens, GA. We brought my girlfriend’s car in for what should have been a routine, simple oil change. Instead, their negligence caused serious engine issues. During the service, they removed a tube that is specific to her vehicle’s oil filter housing and failed to reinstall it, likely discarding it. Because of this mistake, the engine was unknowingly being starved of oil for nearly two weeks. The car began making a loud rattling noise and started running poorly. We immediately took it to the Toyota dealership, where their technicians confirmed the oil filter had been installed incorrectly and that the required tube was missing. Such kind staff! They helped reconnect a front blinker light that another location forgot to reconnect after changing my fuel filter. I appreciated the no charge and their calm, friendly demeanor!

I really wanted to give more stars, as the oil changes and general maintenance here have always been quick and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, my experience with the detailing department was frustrating and disappointing. I called on a Sunday to ask about getting a detail done the same day. They were hesitant due to the weather, which I completely understood — but the representative struggled to explain it clearly. Since I work in customer service, I basically had to interpret it myself and let them know I understood. I then asked if I could drop the vehicle off that same day (Sunday) so it could be worked on Monday. They said that was fine. It rained on Monday, so I wasn’t surprised that no work happened then.
