Wedgewood Estates

My mother, recently passed on January 9th at age 96, and her last 2 yrs, she was a resident of Wedgewood Estates. EVERYONE and I do mean everyone, was wonderful to Mom. The facility is staffed with very compassionate nurses, aides, cleaning crew, kitchen help, maintenance as of course their Director Gloria and Secretary Helen, who always addressed any questions we had immediately. The Owners are often present and making sure everything runs efficiently. Mom was well cared for. The activities are well planned out and special care is always made to include all the residents, when they are able. The decor inside is calming and beautiful, as are the outside grounds where often Mom loved sitting by the back gazebo in the summer,. Was searching for the Wedgewood address and thought I’d leave a little review. My grandparents live in an apartment at Wedgewood. They really enjoy it, even though my grandpa was hesitant at first to leave their previous home. They receive large, quality cooked meals daily, and have assistance when needed from nursing staff. They also have cleaning biweekly I believe, which is so good to hear as an extended family member who doesn’t live close enough to help. I’m glad they are taken care of.

It's definitely not what it used to be and our experience was awful. My father was to be in there for a 5-day respite after the hospital and we took him home 2 days early. They put him in isolation without a TV due to a miscommunication with the hospital and would not listen to the family. His cold food was dropped in his room in a styrofoam container twice before they allowed him to leave his room to eat. Since it was over the weekend, administration was nowhere to rectify the errors. While the RN eventually apologized to my mother, the experience was traumatizing. We will never put another loved one in there. There are other options. Beware of some of the positive reviews that are written by the owner's family and staff.

When my husband passed away and I could no longer care for my father in law alone. I entrusted his care to the staff of Wedgewood Estates. And am so thankful for all the loving care he received. Some may recognize me as also working at Wedgewood Estates and other in my own home there is no other place I wanted him to be. I was already part of the Wedgewood Family and when Dad was admitted they welcomed him with open arms as we do each resident and family. The home like atmosphere along with the attentive staff was a blessing to him, myself and the rest of our family. He actually gained weight when he was admitted like many residents do because he was getting 3 meals a day. Skilled and caring staff, beautiful facility, and a family-owned business. The Garden homes are lovely, and I always know my mom is safe and happy. You will not find a better place to call home for your loved ones! Thank you Wedgewood for being the BEST!
