Westminster Communities of Florida

We had a terrible experience at Westminster Suncoast. My mother was there for rehab. When they took us on a tour while she was still in the hospital, they stated that the rapid recovery patients got their own private room. We never did have a private room for her even after we asked several times during her two month stay. She had ants in her room for the entire time of her being there despite several times of requesting a different room and for them to be taken care of. She had 6 roommates, one of which passed away in the room with her which was traumatic. The assisted living DON is unskilled, ineffective and unprofessional. If you disagree or critique her in any way, she has retaliatory behavior. She did not like that I disagreed with how she handled a situation and she denied acceptanc

Re: Compassionate, Caring Staff I cannot thank the staff at Westminster Communities/Orlando enough for all the special assistance they gave in relocating my brother. He is delighted with his new home. I wish to give special thanks to the Sales Director and the owner of Interiors for Seniors who used her Graphic Design degree to consult with her client to help facilitate a more organized move. When new problems developed her knowledge and skill set of the local Florida market helped resolve these issues quickly and effortlessly. She even sent the family the attached picture and even hung a few pictures. My brother was given a furniture model so he knew where every furniture item would be placed in his new, warmer environment-yes a "worry free" move.

I have never put my feelings about Westminster Communities of Florida into writing until now. I've put up with steady declines in services and little response from Management in Orlando. Today we received notice of a 10% rise in our monthly premiums (29% over the past 5 years). The dining room at Westminster Shores is a disgrace. Unclean conditions, poorly trained staff, tasteless and overcooked food and frequent "we're outta that" have forced many of us to dine elsewhere on our own dime even though we are still paying for this "food". As a physician one of the things that attracted us to Westminster was the promise that if we became ill a simple touch of the emergency button would bring a nurse to our unit. My 90 something Mother lives at Westminster Towers in Orlando. She and our family are more than pleased with her care and living arrangements. The facility is lovely. The staff members are responsive to her needs. My husband and i would like to live at Westminster Towers in the upcoming years.

Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee was a disappointment in many ways for my parent in assisted living. While many staff members were great, quite a number were curt to the point of rude, and unprofessional. Who are they hiring? Residents in some cases were treated as if they were "in the way," not valued in the least, or like school children and told to stand in lines with their walkers, etc. We were told conflicting information about services that were available. I was appalled. The dining areas were more like school cafeterias, not always even clean (stickiness abounded) and the food was the same.
