Always a good experience with this shop. They even fixed a simple issue once (I didn't know) and told me I didn't owe them anything. Honest and good at what they do. To the negative reviewers, if a quote seems high, which I sincerely doubt because they're always cheaper than everywhere I check, simply say no to the work. Why pay an agreed amount or get a quote you think is high and then go online to complain??

It feels weird giving these guys 1 star. They exude honesty and integrity. So if I’m thinking about them in the best light maybe they were too busy to diagnose my problem or give me an honest price for what was eventually a new engine needed. But they wanted to charge me 20k for a new engine on my f150 and even the dealer said 12k. I paid 11k. So I don’t want anyone else to get stuck paying them that money. I am writing and honest and thorough review of my experience with A-1. I brought my Chevy in to them twice, for an issue they didn’t resolve either time, yet charged an exuberant price of each service. The first service was a transmission pan change. I purchased the correct new bolts and transmission pan to be used; A-1 didn’t use either of my parts after communicating they would, and charged me for parts purchased. I received my Chevy back and continued to have issues with the start up/idling. I checked the code myself, and found it to be either a vacuum hose leak or a faulty fuel injector. I contacted A-1 for the second service and brought my Chevy in to them again. Brought A1 my truck and a spare transfer case to have them swap. A friend and longtime resident had recommended them. They did a good job and pricing was very fair. Would recommend them for mechanic work in Livingston - just a good old-fashioned shop. As others have said, they receive a lot of work, have a limited # of hands and a smaller shop so expect at least a couple-few weeks wait to get in. I can't speak to how they handle emergency work. However, worth the wait in my experience.
