Ace Hardware

I am not sure why I keep going back. Maybe it's because it's walking distance. Today's visit was a joke. Im in the aisle and a nice guy came up and asked if he could help with anything. I explained what I am working on. He admits it's not his area of expertise and calls for customer service. I explain what I'm working on but this clown just says: i don't know either. We don't have an electrician who works here. Lol I just needed advice for a junction box, not how to wire my electric panel.

I’ve always preferred shopping at Ace Hardware—not only for its local, community-oriented feel, but also because the service has consistently exceeded what I’ve experienced at the big box stores. Unfortunately, my visit to the McLoughlin Ace Hardware on Wednesday was a disappointing exception. I stopped in to have a specialty mail key copied. After a noticeably long wait at the key counter, an employee finally approached, but his demeanor made it seem as though my request was an inconvenience. He produced a single copy and handed it over with little acknowledgment. The interaction at the register was similarly impersonal. The entire experience felt far more like a trip to Home Depot than the welcoming, service-driven environment I’ve come to expect from Ace. And the key doesn't work.

Asked a guy in the store to help me find a specific washer. He pointed vaguely at the boxes and didn’t really say much. I asked him if he had a specific nut and he said that he didn’t know, then walked away. I didn’t end up finding what I needed there.

Hard to find someone on 10/2. Usually cost for keys from ACE has been under $3.00. Went to register to pay and 8 keys were $40.00! There are NO signs stating/showing the price increased for the keys. The keys now sit behind a counter where customer can't go. Not had issues with keys is why I use ACE, had to exchange 2 on 10.11 that didn't work. If I had wanted to pay locksmith prices, would have gone to a locksmith! Contacted customer service, well, not going to help. Won't be going back. Been a long tome ACE customer.

Helpful friendly staff! They are very good at knowing their stock.
