Ackerman's Servicing Volvo & Subaru

Brought my C30 in for scheduled maintenance. Bruce and his team are 100% top notch. Bruce was very clear about the service, pricing and timeline for the service. I felt extremely comfortable having Ackerman's work on my car after my conversation with Bruce, he is a car guy through and through, and a former racer. So ya know you will get solid service and recommendations. The shop bay is organized and clean. They have complimentary coffee and biscotti. I highly recommend Ackerman's for quality service. They know what their doing.

Since my Subaru Forrester warranty expired, I have been going to a general mechanic in my neighborhood, and have not feeling great about the results — i.e. mainly I've had repeating issues that weren't being taken care of and I was starting to have safety concerns about the vehicle. I finally searched specifically for a Subaru specialist and came across Ackerman's, and I just had my first service with them. I knew I had some deferred maintenance and asked for a service/inspection to make sure my car was safe. Their inspection was very thorough and they provided a list of items and helped me prioritize the issues that were safety concerns. Their pricing was in line with my expectations — lower than dealer pricing. The car is driving great, and I'm feeling confident about quality of the work

I had a very disappointing experience with this shop. I was charged for an initial diagnosis that turned out to be incorrect. Based on that diagnosis, they performed a repair—mostly software-related work—that cost over $1,000 on my 2012 vehicle. Unfortunately, the repair did not resolve the AWD issue at all. When I brought the car back and explained that the problem was still present, I was then told that I would need a new rear differential for approximately $9,000 and that it would be better to sell the car. At no point was reimbursement or accountability offered for the incorrect diagnosis or the ineffective repair. What adds to the frustration is that they continue sending automated requests asking me to leave a review, despite not even correctly recording my name or vehicle informat

My first time at Ackerman’s service, after reading good reviews! Great experience all around. Bruce took great care of my used Subaru Crosstrek, it needed a 90.000 miles service. I dropped the car off in the morning and quickly got it back early afternoon. Very nice place! I will come back for future repairs and services.

I had been a loyal customer of Ackerman for years. I trusted them with all my car needs and always took my Volvo there for maintenance and repairs. That trust is what brought me back before a recent trip—I wanted peace of mind, so I took my car in for a check-up. They told me the coolant reservoir needed replacing. As always, I trusted their judgment and authorized the repair. The next day, while driving across the Bay Bridge, my car suddenly stopped accelerating. I pulled over on the side of the freeway and had to call a tow truck to take me back to the shop. The coolant reservoir had exploded. There was clear evidence of damage from the failed repair.
