Avis Car Rental

Genuinely not sure how this location is still open for business. A gross toothpick was left in the car when we got in and I requested a discount for how filthy the car was when we got it, and was told “you won’t get a discount for a toothpick” - by one of the female employees there, she had a really bad attitude, a toothpick is generally something that has been in someone’s mouth and in a service industry this is absolutely not okay, it’s basic hygiene and also should be taken into account germs and things that could be spread. It’s very clear by the way this place is run, that they don’t take pride in their work or have any basic customer service skills or excellence… it was honestly a very unprofessional environment and experience but we kept the car because we had 7 hours of travel and

Avis at DCA is located off-airport at their Crystal City location, so you’ll need to take a shuttle. The wait was about 5–10 minutes, but the shuttle is a small van that doesn’t hold many passengers, so it can fill up quickly. The upside is that being off-airport makes it much easier to get in and out without dealing with heavy terminal traffic. Once at the rental center, check-in was quick and efficient, and the staff was friendly. The exit process was just as smooth. The vehicle selection was decent — not a huge variety, but enough to find a suitable car for my needs. Overall, a convenient location with solid service, just be prepared for the smaller shuttle.

Be careful with this site. If you have any issues avis customer service is basically non existent. i had a long term rental that i needed to extend, they had me come back to the site(inperson) for this. It would not let me do anything online and could not be done over the phone. Meaning the extension would most likely be more. I had to return early and leave from different airport when trying to prepay and change for this again site location was unreachable and ringing to main customer service line and stated they could not help me nor call out to reach site, i would need to go to site. after several calls i was able to reach location where i wanted to drop off and they stated location change was approved for 50 dollars. When i checked out The estimated total cost on the check did not matc

They failed to close out the rental at DCA airport location on Richmond Highway. so I am unable to get my receipt. I even asked them to close the rental in person and asked them for my receipt but only gave me a copy of the same agreement instead of a receipt! Still waiting for a receipt two days later and online it still says “need to return the car!” even though car was returned two days ago… when I called customer service they said they can’t do anything about it… so no customer service whatsoever. Avis customer service is going downhill fast. They used to have great service but not anymore. Going to change my loyalty to another rental company.. but still need my receipt!

I’ve been an Avis Preferred Plus member for over a decade, and Avis has long been my rental company of choice. Unfortunately, this location is by far the worst experience I’ve had with the brand. You can rarely get the car you reserve, and cars are often not ready when you arrive, which means waiting around after a long trip. On my most recent rental, I was charged for the fuel service even though I declined it. I had to spend additional time on the phone with customer service to get it corrected. The representative I spoke with was fantastic and ultimately made it right, but it still cost me valuable time. Because of repeated issues at this location, I will not be using Avis at National Airport again.
