Avis Car Rental

Rented a FWD car on a work trip. Both front tires were completely bald—no tread at all. This violates U.S. legal standards under 49 CFR § 393.75 and state laws (e.g., NHTSA guidelines), which require at least 2/32 inch minimum tread depth on passenger vehicle tires—especially the drive wheels for traction. Zero tread is illegal and a clear safety hazard. In light snow, I nearly hit a semi, almost slid off the road, then got stuck in a ditch. Waited over 3 hours for help, freezing and missing work. I rent 40+ cars a year and have never seen anything this dangerous. Handing out a car with bald drive tires in winter isn’t poor service—it’s reckless negligence that could lead to lawsuits. I have used Avis at Wilkes-Barre Scranton airport on several occasions for work and in my opinion they are by far the best of what Avis has to offer. There cars are clean and well maintained. I haven't had any issues with over billing like I constantly have to deal with at other Avis locations. The customer service is great. We recently had issues with flight cancellations and contacted Ashley at the AVP desk. She was able to change our drop off location and extend our rental agreement on the fly. Ashley has been extremely helpful and friendly. she has gone above and beyond to make our travel much easier. Thank you Ashley. We look forward to our next rental at your Wilkes-Barre Scranton location.

Absolute worst customer service experience at their Avoca Wilkes Barre - Scranton Airport location and phone agents. No one at the desk , rude , combative. No one ever answers the phone. Asked for an authorization letter for my CC company. I was told she doesn’t know what it is. She has no fax machine or do anything of the sort.Customer Service department was closed via phone. 4 agents hung up the phone and didn’t explain that they cannot cancel a day off my reservation. As a member you think your experience would be seamless. I will NEVER rent again at Avis .Absolutely unacceptable. End up missing my trip and never got rental.

Booked an Avis Rental car still believing that Avis was to shelf...I was wrong. I dropped off the car on May 9, 2022 (9am) to the desk at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport (AVP). I mentioned to the Avis Representative (who happened to be female). That I was trying to call the desk all day during the previous day. Without ever looking up from her computer monitor she said we were busy. When I mentioned the tires on the car that I was returning were bald...she said oh. Worst rental experience I ever had in 40 years of car rentals. I thought Avis was better...I was wrong.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Avis at the Scranton AVP location! From start to finish, the service was smooth, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The staff at the counter were friendly, efficient, and made the rental process incredibly easy — no long waits, no hassles, just great customer service. The vehicle I received was clean, well-maintained, and exactly what I needed for my trip. It even felt like an upgrade! Returning the car was just as seamless, and I appreciated how quickly the staff got everything squared away. What really stood out to me was how personable and helpful everyone was. It’s rare these days to get such warm, attentive service, but Avis at AVP really delivered. I’ll absolutely be renting from them again whenever I’m in the area. Highly recommend
