Avis Car Rental

One of the most positive car rental experiences ever (we rent ~10/year). First they had our car class available (can be hit or miss from non-airport locations) and had 2 cars for us to choose from. Check in and return processes were smooth and quick. Car (Subaru) had a few small dents and was 90% clean inside (needed some more vacuuming under seats and there was sand in the trunk). The hose for the windshield wiper fluid had been disconnected but we fixed that easily. Overall still a very positive experience that was worth writing a review.

Like others have mentioned, avoid this location at all costs. I have rented dozens of times from different Avis locations. They gave me the wrong vehicle and the employee didn't do the walk around with me to mark the damages. I was in a hurry and left, but did notice an existing mark that they are now billing me for, when it was already there. Reading the reviews, seems like this is a common practice here where they make up cleaning and damage fees. Update: The email Avis provided below will go nowhere, they just doubled down on the outcome. Don't believe anything positive comes out of their attempts at atonement. I just rented from a different Avis, we did a walk around before and after delivery and no hidden charges. Be very careful with this Berkley location.

I enjoyed coming into this location, Wayne was such a nice and friendly person, and super helpful; everything was so fast, simple and easy. Stephanie was also hilarious and friendly as well. Her hair? +++ Happy holidays!

Friendly service, pickup was quick and easy. Rented two different cars over a couple of weeks, both were almost new. Best of the three or four rental companies in Berkeley.

The staff at this location are all pretty great. My issue isn’t with them, but rather Avis itself. I made a reservation for what Avis has labeled as a “Mystery Car” on their app. When I got to this location, the only thing that I was offered was an electric F-150. Here is a little known fact about the Ford F-150, which the good folks at Avis might not know: it is actually not a car! It’s a huge pickup truck that’s impossible to drive or park in the city, has no covered cargo capacity (due to, you know, being A TRUCK), and to add insult to injury is also electric. What this meant for me is that I had to waste two Uber trips to get to this location and back, and needing to go somewhere else to rent an actual car. Apparently the issue happened due to Avis not stocking this location with veh
