Avis Car Rental

If I'm up north and need a rental car, I have my fingers crossed they have a car available (they usually do unless Northwestern is coming in or out). Bob and Dante are the absolute best. I won't name other places in the area but I've rented them all, and let's just say I found my spot. Part of me hates to give away this gem by posting but I have to give recognition to my guys over there. It's always in and out, easy peasy. Right away they remembered me by name. They also picked up on the type of rental I like, and would recommend cars for me (this is really helpful if you're not familiar with the model), and it's always spot on. We usually do not usually leave any reviews but this time we could not let that pass. Our experience with this AVIS rental location was TERRIBLE and we want you to AVOID renting from this place! We have booked a car and waited for 1 hour just to pick it up. Once we got the car, it was absolutely disgusting: the car was smelling smoke and alcohol badly, the mats were full of sand and dirt, the trunk was full of salt, and there was dirt all over the dashboard. We found a box of cookies and fries under our seat....The guy at the front desk, who was really RUDE and unprofessional, rushed us to take the keys and sign the contract without giving us the time to check the inside and outside of the car. We also found out the transponder for the toll roads was not working and we got charged for it

July 10th update: Avis is currently offering me a $50.00 coupon to compensate for them renting out a car with tires below tread wear markers that ended up having a blowout on the highway. The taxi service that ended up saving the day cost $500 to get the rest of the 3 hours to our destination. Car had a blow out due to tires being below tire wear indicators. we were approximately 3 hours away from our final destination in middle of wisconsin. Avis customer service support thought an uber would be available to drive us to an avis location 100 miles away. The tow service wouldn't take us because of dog. Thankfully, found a taxi service to drive us the remainder of the way. Currently, waiting on reimbursement for that service from AVIS which is currently a headache.

This place is deplorable not only is it filthy but customer service was horrible with faulty card reading machines. I prepaid my rental to come in and complete processing the Avis guy says the card machine isn’t reading my card so it’s not processing just for me to check my account and see I was charged for the deposit of the rental as well. Avis customer service offered absolutely no help besides a refund in full that I HAVE TO WAIT 5-10 BUSINESS TO GET BACK. Now I’ve called the store several times to file a complaint and no answer. Things like this needs to be publicized for the inconvenience and ability to offer a resolution yet choose to just say sorry I’m done dealing with these type of companies.

Avis is Avis. You go through the usual steps and get a vehicle. Unfortunately I got a very dirty vehicle that at first smelled like a wet dog but later after the sun came out I noticed the filth. I took plenty pictures and reported it to Avis corporate office because nobody answered the phone there in Evanston. I still haven't gotten a response from Avis. Three weeks later. Hopefully this review will get their attention. CLEAN YOUR VEHICLES.
