Budget Car Rental

Pretty bad experience with Budget in Lihue, HA. Stood in line for about twenty minutes to get to an agent, then waited another twenty for someone to bring the car when the lot was entirely full and we could have walked out and just picked it up ourselves. After waiting for a long while, I asked at the counter if we could just go to get the car from the lot and they said they were working on it.?. The Mazda SUV finally arrived (several others in the lot out front that were just sitting there) and once we got in it, it was filthy inside. I get that it is Hawai’i and is pobably hard to remove sand, but nonetheless it didn’t look like it had been cleaned at all.Painful process!

Avoid renting from Budget and specifically this location, at all costs. Dealing with Budget is an absolute nightmare on all fronts. They get you by being the cheapest, or one of the cheapest but pay the extra $10 a day to get hertz or anyone else. You can expect long lines (2 hours, no joke) waiting for your vehicle. Apathetic staff about the wait. They also have only cars that have 25,000 mile + that all have some sort of damage. (Make sure you have photos before you leave. Drive into a light to take photos if its dark). They then gave me a vehicle whose battery died mid trip. I didn't leave any lights on or anything that would have drained the battery when not in use. They then charged me $169 (including admin fees) to get a tow truck to jump the car in 3 minutes. They said that because

Bus way to small, 33 customers waiting for only 2 agents for 1 hours, waiting for the car additional 40 minutes. Car was washed, but very dirty inside, fuel tank not even full. Needed to clean the controls before touching them, disgusting. The worst experience i ever had picking up the rental car. Only the agent was nice... Returning was also a complete chaos. Cars waitung on the street, nobody is telling you what to do. You have to go inside the office and ask until someone showing up. Car return on the street, carry your bags all the way to the bus... unbelieveable.

Literally rent from anywhere or anyone else under the sun, will never rent a budget Avis again. Hertz and Alamo have been good, have had issues with Enterprise but would take them over Budget any day. This place is a Trainwreck and the employees, and manager on duty, were the absolute rudest people we encountered this whole trip from Maui to Kauai. The manager standing and supervising instead of assisting her employees was also a cherry on top for the whole affair. Level of care from the whole crew explains the terrible overall review average they carry. This review is one of many. SINGLE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE OF MY 50+ YEARS. Budget ruined my honeymoon and a once-in-lifetime vacation. We waited in a 2+ hour line with 100+ people waiting for cars. I took the photo after waiting 45 minutes. There were easily 50-60+ people behind me. There was one Budget employee taking care of the line and one person handling ‘Fastbreak’ members. This was extremely poor service. Customer service rep "Cho" told me this is absolutely standard for a weekday and it's exponentially worse on weekends. She said she and one other person are routinely the only employees working the desk when the line is even longer. The employees here are being set up to fail.
