Do not go to this mechanic. All they try to do is make money off of you. Either they are ignorant and don’t know what they are doing or they are trying to make a buck off of you. If I could give them zero stars I would. I’m in town for a trip. My steering was seizing up and had to get it towed. I was recommended to go to Dave’s by a local. When I got there all they tried to do was have me pay for a $3k part and labor. It was a simple solution of my heater shield getting caught on my steering rack.

As someone who runs an automotive repair facility, I have nothing but praise for this business. My daughter lives 5 1/2 hours away from me. She was referred by a coworker. She was able to drop off her vehicle with no appointment, and the problem was resolved for a more than reasonable price. I was communicated with in a timely manner, and when she spoke with them regarding another issue they gave her clear instructions. As a parent, this was a great experience for my daughter and I. I am grateful for good service by a small local shop, and believe we have found her a regular mechanic where she lives. Thank you!

Lead with caution because this place is tricky. He advised we buy our own part for a repair and did not explain that they will NOT give a warranty with a part brought in. So no warranty for $600 worth of labor work and a $20 part. He would not provide a written estimate for the work and then charged more than was discussed and proceed to be rude explaining “they are legally allowed to charge 10% more than the estimate.” The entire experience felt like a scheme. Find other work if you can, and always ask for written estimates before you agree to anything.

Our daughter attends SIU and we live 5 hours away. Dave's Automotive was recommended to us by other students at SIU. I was a little worried at first reading the other reviews but Dave and his guys went above and beyond to fix our daughter's Subaru Forester. We weren't really sure what the problem was at first and Dave and his guys took the time to drive the car around to figure out what the problem was. Dave was not giving up until our daughter's car was fixed, so we really appreciate that. He was very professional, called us at every point of fixing the car to let us know what was going on. They would not move forward on the car unless we were okay with the fixes. Thank you very much Dave's automotive!! I would definitely recommend!!

Needed cars repairs this week and did not have an appointment anywhere in the region. Was told what day to come in and they would take care of me. Had new alternator and serpentine belt installed. Very good price and car runs like a charm. Friendly staff.
