DFM Auto Repair

I brought my car here for a vehicle safety systems inspection. To their credit while dropping the car off they did answer my questions and told me that it would fail. I was able to avoid having them do the inspection and paying their $540 fee. The problem is that the issues they stated the car would fail for were incorrect. After reviewing the Bureau of Automotive Repairs own manual and a conversation with BAR's consumer assistance line the information provided by DFM was all incorrect. A different shop performed the VSSI and passed the vehicle with no issues.

I brought in a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 for a smog check after it had been in storage. The vehicle had no check engine light, no known issues, and is in good mechanical condition. The shop ran the test and charged $82, but it failed solely because two readiness monitors had not yet completed. No actual emissions problem was identified, and as expected for newer vehicles under the California Smog Check Program, there was no tailpipe test—just an OBD check. What was disappointing is that there was no attempt to do a simple pre-check or warn us that the car would automatically fail due to incomplete monitors (a known and common situation after storage or battery disconnect). Do not go to this place!! They charged me almost 1k for an inspection , failed me and told me to fix 2 issues. Once I fixed those issues, they failed me again on other issues and told me I needed another inspection. Complete scam artist .
