The confirmed reservation at the Hertz Yorkville location was under my friend’s name, and I accompanied her to pick up the vehicle. After correcting a minor booking mistake immediately, she was still denied a vehicle despite cars being visibly available and other customers being served at the same time. The explanations provided were inconsistent, shifting, and ultimately unclear. No written justification or policy-based reasoning was provided. Prior to arrival, I called ahead and informed the staff that I was on my way, specifically asking that the vehicle be started so it would be warmed up. I was told this would be handled during the walk-around. When I arrived, however, I was simply handed the keys and sent outside—no walk-around was conducted at all. The vehicle was: • Completely covered in snow, indicating it had not been started or prepared • Dirty inside and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which is unacceptable • Provided with only half a tank of gas Additionally, the staff was not helpful or responsive when these issues were apparent. The overall experience demonstrated a lack of basic customer service, vehicle preparation, and professionalism.

Don't even think about renting a vehicle from this Hertz location. Had a trip to Washington DC planned weeks in advance. Arrived promptly at 8am with my 4 You're old. Was told by staff sorry we called you, left two voicemails your car is not available. Offered no assistance in getting another car just told me they were sorry they called me. I did find the voicemail but the call looked like any out of state spam number that that you would send to voicemail. They're reasoning for not sending an email to tell me of the cancellation was because it would go to my spam folder. The staff could care less. Worst customer service you could ever imagine. My gurl Nicole always gets me in the right vehicle that fits my needs. She’s always smiling, never shows if she’s having a bad day, handles any issues immediately. Always a good variety at this location. I always compare prices and of course theirs are cheaper than the others around here and let’s u add all the options while booking online, instead of when u get there and extra charges come up.

**Edit** The response they send is generic and the link just goes to their support page. They offer no help or anything, so don't let their responses to the negative reviews make you think otherwise. Worst experience I've ever had at a rental company. The woman at the desk was so rude and condescending we will never do business with them again. Go to Avis or Budget, it's cheaper and less than half a mile away from there.
