Highland Square Rehabilitation and Nursing has improved so much! It’s clean and smells good! The staff is super friendly. The management is responsive to resident requests and concerns.

First off, I'd like to note that every nurse and front desk receptionist has been pleasant and accommodating. This review reflects them in no way. They have been great. However, the administrator, director, and owner need to be held accountable. It's a complete DUMP here! I feel bad for the patients who have to stay here. Also the meal sizes are fit for a toddler and lack enough protein and everyone appears to be underweight. This place makes plenty of money to keep the residents fed but chooses to cut costs at the the patient's expense. The brochure can say all it wants, just look at the medicare dot gov inspections and rating for the home. It's way below average compared to others and for good reason.

My mother has been a resident here for several years. She is receiving thoughtful and personal care. The staff each have their own relationships with her and know her individually. Miss Gail at the front desk is the most amazing ambassador - both a fairy godmother to the residents, as well as a great comforter and liaison to the family members. We are lucky to have formed this vital relationship. The administrators and medical professionals have done a great job of keeping her safe and healthy during the pandemic - and the terrible isolation it's brought with it. We have been very glad to have my mom in Ayden during this extra stressful time for vulnerable persons like her.

I notice positive reviews are being written in an attempt to seemingly counteract the truth about this place. It is deplorable, horrible and taking people's money. They give out a menu with no food listed. Some of the food is not even identifiable. They have tv's in the room, but no cable, or internet connection. When you ask questions, almost no one has answers. There is no follow through, no returning phone calls, or emails. The worst part is many of the employees do not know how to treat or care for people, aka incompetence, aka just collecting a check.

This place is a joke, I was sent there for rehabilitation after a month long hospital stay. When I arrived they didn't know who or where I came from or why I was there. They decided to just throw me in room 200 until they figured it out. By morning they were coming at me telling me I had to take some substance abuse treatment classes to be there. NO, I'm not here for that, they say I have to or I will have to leave to open up the bed for someone else. They don't know what there doing, rude and ignorant. The place is disgustingly dirty. It's jail house food (sweat meat and unidentifiable) not fit for a dog! They gave me no care at all. I asked for a walker that was across the room and the nurse folded it up and set it against the wall, what is that about? I emptied my own infection bag myse
