Clayton went above and beyond to fix my brakes. I called him in the morning, he took my Mercedes at noon and returned it to me the next day in immaculate condition. His rates were more than fair. I highly recommend!

Knowledgeable Mechanic - Fair Prices - No Surprises Clayton is the main mechanic there and is one of those rare honest mechanics you hear about but rarely meet. He lays out clear expectations and outlook for the job. Does not sugar-coat anything or mislead you into expensive unnecessary repairs (unlike some of the big chain shops). He is extremely knowledgable and seems to actually care about/stand behind his work. I had some tricky exhaust work done here recently on my 2000 Ford F150, my weekend work truck. It needed two new catalytic converters and 4 oxygen sensors installed. I brought this truck in with rusty/disintegrating nuts & seized-up bolts. Down and Dirty mechanic, but if you're looking for your go-to guy, Clayton is it. You'll have to peel away the mean/hard exterior, but he won't steer you wrong. He's a guy that enjoys working on vehicles and seeing his customers happy. He wants the repeat business that's achieve through quality work. His labor charges are fair. I think it was around $50-60/hour. He recommends high performance parts, but he encouraged me to find the parts online and come back when I had parts in hand to save me some money. And I did! Dang! I got a part that would have cost $400 from the manufacturer for half the price on eBay.

Island Auto Repair is an old-school, do-right-by-the-customer kind of business. I recently moved to the Newport area, and my 5.0 Mustang was driving me crazy. I'd had it to two different shops in MD who were more than happy to charge me $800- $1400 to "fix it", and neither of them came through. I took the car to Island, it was diagnosed, repaired and given back to me in less than 3 hours, and the price for the services was so reasonable I could hardly beleive it. If you need good mechanical work done for a great price, do not hesitate to go see Clayton at Island. He is a true stand-up guy!!!!
