My Jeep battery died on a Saturday afternoon before a planned 7 day road trip to AZ. I was very concerned about getting the batteries (it has 2) checked and/or replaced if needed. I called the local Pepboys in San Marcos and they said to come in, even though it was 5:30 in the evening. Both batteries were bad, and Ken said he could take care of replacing them; working it into the last jobs they had for that evening. Even though they had to go pick up one of the batteries, it was still done very quickly! Thank you to the crew at Pep Boys! Ask for Ken when you get here and I have great trust that he will be honest, professional and fair!

Stopped by for wiper blades, and they installed them and were so friendly I decided to come back for a free brake inspection. Easy appointment, quick service, and they didn’t try to upsell me. Reasonable prices so I will come back when repairs are needed!

The coolant system in my car was leaking and I was able to get to the San Marcos location for help. Amanda was incredible and was very helpful, knowledgeable and kind through the whole process. It was a stressful situation but she made it bearable. Many thanks to Amanda and the San Marcos team.

I brought my truck to this Pep Boys location for new brake pads and rotors. The mechanic failed to properly secure the bolts on the front driver-side rotor and admitted he didn’t inspect his work afterward. That negligence caused damage to my brake calipers, rotor, and wheel bearings. When I brought this to their attention, both the store manager and the mechanic refused to acknowledge their mistake or take responsibility. They offered no solution and no repair for the damage they caused. I ultimately had to take my truck to another shop to fix the issues created by this Pep Boys location. I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend others avoid this store for any vehicle service.

BEWARE!!! We have a well maintained 2018 Nissan Pathfinder with 80k miles. We recently brought it in for a non-start issue. Malik quoted almost $7k, with a long list of things wrong including a blown head gasket! I had it towed 32 miles to San Diego to get a second opinion at our regular mechanic who cringed when I'd told him that we had taken it to Pep Boys. He just cleared a couple of fault codes, charged the battery, drove it for 2 days, and couldn't find one thing wrong with it. He said that it could use a tune up around the next oil change. I know that they work on commission, but this is just unscrupulous gouging!
