I’ve thought for sometime about writing this review because I’ve never wrote a bad review but I now feel like it’s necessary. I went in a while back for a loud noise I was hearing from under my car and thought maybe it was the heat shield after doing research since that happens with the make of my car but Phil & sons told me that wasn’t the case that I had no heat shield so it couldn’t be that. When they took my car in to have it looked at I was told it was the catalytic converter causing it which would be well over 1,000 to fix it. I went to another shop to get another opinion before spending that kind of money turns out it in fact WAS my heat shield causing the noise and the shop I went to fixed it for FREE. The only place we really trust for auto repairs. They do great work, get to it quickly, and are very reasonable cost-wise. They are the best!

Be careful bringing your vehicle here. I went in for a routine inspection and was told my truck wouldn’t fit because of the rooftop box. When I asked if someone could help me remove it, they said “no problem” and took care of it—but when I went to pay, they added a surprise $20 fee that was never mentioned up front. This kind of undisclosed charge is shady and dishonest, and after years of going here I won’t be back. UPDATE: Your explanation misses the point. The issue is not that you charged—it’s that you never told me ahead of time there would be a fee. I specifically asked if someone could help ME take off the box and was told “no problem,” with no mention of cost. Had I known, I could have removed it myself or come back without it. Very reliable and responsibly priced! You can make an appointment or just go for oil change/ stickers. This is my go to place! I highly recommend Phil and Son’s in Newburyport!

I'm not very car-savvy, but I trust the staff at Phil & Sons. When we moved to NBPT I didn't know where to bring my car but I kept hearing from everyone Phil & Sons.
