Porters Automotive

We had Porters check out our truck (thinking it was a wheel bearing). Traveling through IL. They made us an appointment as soon as they had a bay open. Which was in only 3 hours. Amanda at the front desk was awesome to work with. The mechanic (I think his name was Shawn) worked on the truck to find an issue. He went on and beyond to help. Long story short, I would highly recommend this place for your auto needs.

We were driving across country when our 20-year-old car developed a front-end issue. Without an appointment or a phone call we arrived at the garage on a Friday afternoon and were immediately greeted by a professional and caring staff and owner. Within 2 hours the issue was diagnosed a repair schedule was provided and the parts were ordered. 2,000 miles later and the car is still running perfectly. Service was A+! Price was so much lower than home area so that gets an A++! Staff and owner were the type of people you hope to meet when traveling so they all get A+++! They get our highest recommendation and our heartfelt thanks and best wishes.

My car broke down unexpectedly, and I had it towed to Porter’s Automotive based on a recommendation. I’m so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, they were incredibly kind and understanding. They got my car checked out right away, explained everything to me in a way that actually made sense, and didn’t try to upsell me on anything I didn’t need. Their prices were also extremely fair—way cheaper than I expected, especially for the quality of work they did. It’s rare to find a mechanic who is this honest and helpful.

Porters automotive has to be one of the easiest mechanic experiences I’ve had. My wife and I just moved into town and I rarely take my vehicles in to be worked on by other people, but when my wife’s Subaru broke down in the snow storm I didn’t know where to turn. Luckily I gave them a call, because they had my vehicle in a diagnosed fast, and tracked down a reliable replacement transmission/transfer case to get my wife’s car back on the road. Professional, friendly, and affordable. I’d recommend them to anyone.

My husband, children, and I were on a very long roadtrip and our vehicle broke down in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. We were 8 hours away from home. Porters Automotive was the only shop that was able to fit us in same day-on a Friday. Austin and team were able to fix the issue that day and we were able to make it home. My family and I are forever grateful for Porters Automotive!
