These are good guys. I had them replace the exhaust system on my Saturn Sky Redline with a DDMWorks system I purchased myself and delivered to them with the car. It only took them a few hours. They used the lifting pucks I provided, and the work was done well. Clamps were lined up nicely, and the exhaust tips were perfectly aligned with the rear valance. The technician omitted a bonus mounting bracket included with the kit because he "did not want to drill" the aftermarket backbone I had installed. No worries. Next time I changed my oil, I just backed out one of the cap screws holding the backbone and attached the bracket myself in about 5 minutes.

Bloomington has a unique automotive repair shop here; competent mechanics w/ excellent diagnostic skills, the equipment to assist w/ modern automotive repair procedures and a wonderfully kind an honest owner in “Gary” (whom I have known since my return to Btown from L A back in 2009). My wife and I have had a variety of old and new automobiles serviced here over the last decade and a half and have always been very satisfied with both the fair price and most importantly the competent “fix it right the first time” repair ethic. Other shops in town could learn from the “quiet success” or this unsung hero in the Btown auto repair scene; no fanfare and no VIP testimonials are needed here, just your average Bloomingtonian that relies on their vehicle(s) day in and day out to be productive cont

I love these guys. After dealing with the Firestones in Bloomington, working with Southern Automotive is like a breath of fresh air. I've been going to them for oil changes and general maintenance for the past year or so and have had absolutely no issues with them. Everyone working here is extremely pleasant and they don't nickel and dime you like majority of the other shops around town. 10/10 would recommend to anyone needing car service.

Do not go here. Ordered the wrong parts and then charged me for labor when they did not fix my car. Proceed to yell at me, and offered no solution. They couldn't figure out which parts to order, and I found the correct parts. Told me I could pick my car up after hours at the gas station they own and when I arrived was told the car wasn't available. They are forcing me to pay over $100 for no service rendered. Please take your business anywhere else. Update from reply: The reply the business provided is further proof of the gaslighting that occured at this place. They are attempting to discredit me based on my prior reviews, which I encourage all readers to look at. Finding a good mechanic is like finding a great doctor. Bloomington is so lucky to have Southern Automotive. No need to search for an honest crew when Southern Automotive checks off all the boxes. They have gone above and beyond for my family. Specifically, my mother. They have treated her like family and given her the best service we could ever ask for. This is the entire crew. I can't say enough good things about this place! I've personally witnessed them helping people in the community. We are so grateful for Gary and his amazing staff!
