At first I was wondering why an oil change and vehicle inspection was taking so long, but when I got my vehicle back not only did I have the oil replaced. They did a complete multi-point mechanical inspection of the vehicle like you would if you were thinking of buying the thing. This was for free BTW. They also fixed the oil change reminder on my car’s computer. My family owned this car for 11 years and thought 10k miles was when to get the oil changed because that’s what was on the computer. I didn’t know you should do it every 5k miles.

My car was towed to TGK in Mankato after breaking down in middle of the road. It was near closing and I was a new customer. But they made time to work on my car the next day. They took time to explain what I could expect in terms of service and cost. After they looked at my car, they explained what needed to be done as well as the cost. They didn’t insist on doing additional work. My car was ready shortly after lunch the next day. Overall, a good experience on a difficult day.

Scheduled an appointment a few days in advance for last Friday. Came in Friday morning and they claimed they had no record of my appointment even though I showed them my confirmation email. I understood the mixup and they rescheduled me for the following Monday. I came in once again and said I was dropping the truck off and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I told them I wanted rear brakes and a thermostat, nothing too crazy. They called 6 hours later saying it would be over $2300. I said just do the brakes and forget the thermostat, and then proceeded to tell me they couldn’t get anything done. My pickup stopped running on a Saturday. I found TGK online and gave them a call. They were able to get an appointment/inspection scheduled for Monday. They had the inspection done sooner than I expected on Monday as well. Travis was great at breaking down the inspection and letting me know what were essential fixes and what could wait. He didn't push me to get anything done that I wasn't ready for or couldn't pay for at that moment. They had the alternator and brakes replaced the next day. Their communication through the entire process was top notch. Will definitely recommend them to others!

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with TGK Automotive in North Mankato due to poor communication, lack of urgency, and repeated failures to follow through. My vehicle has effectively been held there for three weeks with little progress and inconsistent information. Communication is minimal unless I repeatedly reach out, and even then, details change or are forgotten. Labor charges were also quoted higher than what the warranty company allows, leaving me caught in the middle unexpectedly. There were multiple delays caused by basic oversights, including being told parts had arrived, only to later discover no one had actually opened the box to confirm all parts were present — resulting in days of unnecessary delay. When Tony leaves early (which happens often), everything stops.
