The Village Washtub

Update: I went back to use this facility again. This time I had a small load of colors, so I thought I'd use the single load washing machine instead of one of the large washers. There are 4 single load washers here. Three of them are "out of order" and the other one was full of sand and dirt, so I had to use the larger washer anyway. Previously: I washed my clothes here this morning. My first visit. I found the laundromat empty when I arrived. It was fairly clean. There were lots of washers in every size. I choose two of the largest washers and started washing. Other customers tricked in and began washing their clothes. Everyone was quiet and friendly. I never saw an attendant, only other customers. There were plenty of dryers and folding tables. I was able to complete my wash in about 1.

The owner likes to lurk around and harass you while you’re trying to do laundry. It’s open until 10, but if you try to do laundry near 9 (which is plenty of time still to do a quick wash and dry) he complains and starts a fight about how he wanted to go home early. Don’t go there unless you want to get harassed for spending your money there.

The Portland Street laundromat was pretty full so we ventured over here. No one was physically there, but many of the dryers had clothes in them, or hanging out of them. The washing machine had green mold under the rubber seal. Very unsanitary! I won't be back.

I'm doing g a hot wash right now? So clean, very nice. I mean, we've all had to go to super lousy laundromats before...this one is great!

The washers and dryers work fine and the layout is nice. Only complaint is that it's quarters only and every once in a while, a machine will eat my quarters, run the cycle for less than a minute, and then start over and ask me to put in another three dollars. I do also wish there was a place to plug in a laptop so I can work while I wait, but that's a pretty small issue.
