Avamere at Newberg

Overall, Avamere became greatly improved a few years ago with the installation of new management. Unfortunately the needs of our resident were not able to be met by Avamere’s protocols. 1)No provision for a ketogenic diet or for puréed food. 2) No provision for a patient put in restrictive memory care for supposedly physical needs to be evaluated and approved for involvement in mentally stimulating activities outside of the memory care unit. 3) Hospice operatives were superlative for actually meeting the needs of our patient!

So far it's been mostly very good, but I want control over my meds back!!! The only meds that has been controlled by the med techs so far has been the stuff for my pain!!! They are actually the most important to my health and well-being, and I need them when I need them!!! Sometimes I end up having to wait longer than I can handle and that is completely unacceptable!!!

Christopher and the entire team that we met were all friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel at home. The facility was odor free and clean. Great first visit.

We went for a tour and Christopher was so helpful and easy to speak with. Everyone we met seemed pleasant and happy to be there.

You should have seen my dad, as Avamere memory care had left him to fall down, lose consciousness in the bark dust, and bake in the summer sun. He had second and third degree burns by the time they found him. Also he was severely dehydrated. They were supposed to check the garden every 15 minutes. Then they took advantage of a grieving 75 yo wife and had her sign anti-lawsuit paperwork. So yeah. Our family paid for medical bills for it too. If you ever check them out, ask them about the guy who fell outside and got left for hours by Avamere staff. They don't care about your loved one.
