Avis Kona airport

Amazing staff at this location, they were super friendly, polite, and very helpful. Mariah was very kind and not only had the vehicle ready as of my Avis Preferred booking, but also upgraded us to a Mustang. The process was very smooth both and rental car pick up as well as at the return stage. The location is conveniently 5 minutes away from the airport and accessible by a shared Shuttle between Avis, Dollar, and Pay Less. The shuttle runs every 8 minutes from both the rental locations as well as the Airport. Highly recommend this Avis location.

DO NOT RENT A VEHICLE FROM HERE! Rented a mini van for my family for our visit to the big island. To start our trip off we were stuck at the lot for an hour because they gave away our mini van before we arrived. They had to go and find a different mini van for me. My flight was not delayed and I arrived to the lot when I stated I would so I was shocked to find out that they gave my vehicle away. Another warning is if they find any sand inside the vehicle they will charge you at least $125. I do not know if they know this but Hawaii is an island that people visit specifically for their beaches. I would understand if there was excessive sand inside the vehicle. In my opinion the little sand found on the floor mats should not incur a $125 charge. When I asked if they normally vacuum

Thank you Blake & Susan Original: When we arrived at the counter, the vehicle was not ready for pickup, despite my status as a preferred member and the fact that the rental was fully prepaid. This delay was unacceptable. When the vehicle was finally provided, it was in extremely poor condition. The step was covered in mud, the interior was filled with sand, and the vehicle immediately displayed maintenance warnings, including engine oil change required and low windshield washer fluid. This vehicle should never have been released to a customer in this state. Upon returning the vehicle, the agent failed to properly inspect it, did not check the fuel gauge, and incorrectly charged me $14.67 for fuel. As clear

Very unprofessional. “Preferred “ service is just a different door. Don’t need to hear the employees complaining about one another while I wait (not supposed to waitwith preferred). Manager scolding employees unnecessarily. I haven’t even gotten in the car yet. Edit: I finally got a car, and it was gross to say the least. We refused, and they swapped it out for a much nicer van. Worst part was they had a nice clean van waiting in a preferred spot, so they chose to make me wait in the office while they chatted and complained amongst themselves. Couldn’t book online due to system errors, the desk agent said they were overbooked. I showed up to the counter and was given a convertible. The desk agent didn’t disclose the price upfront, I asked if she could include a discount code to which she said “not for walk ins”. She stated I would need to call customer service, but they told me there’s nothing they could do. I was charged for a SUV at the rate of 227.00 per day. Absolutely was scammed here, and to top it off, only one wiper worked on the car! If you don’t have a reservation stay away.
