I had a mixed experience. While scheduling and the front desk were smooth, I was disappointed by the lack of cost transparency. I provided details on the issue upfront but was not given an estimate. After paying for an inspection, I received a quote for nearly $1400. I was able to get the same high-quality work done elsewhere for less than half the price, including parts and labor. This quote was an extreme overcharge, especially given I had already done the break work. Better upfront communication on potential costs would have prevented this frustrating and unnecessary expense.

I went here twice and was not satisfied. The first time was for check-engine-light. They "fixed" it but I had to come back in less than a week as it came back on. In the follow-up visit, they identified the underlying issue. I hope they would have found that issue the first time but more importantly, I was charged for diagnostics the second time as well. I had to escalate it to Alan (owner) to get that charge removed. In the second visit, the price they quoted me over the phone was different increased when I showed up to drop the car. The reason given was they had resent an old quote that was sent to me vs. sending me the latest quote. Everyone was great - from scheduling, to the work, to communication about when the job was complete. I would highly recommend Claymont Auto Repair for car service, and will plan on using them for all of my auto needs.

I’ve been taking my family’s cars to Claymont for a few years. I’m always happy with the work they do. I especially like their system of checking in & communication using texts.

I’ve used Claymont Auto for emissions and safety inspections several times over the years. The staff and mechanics there are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this shop!
