I rented from the Wilmington Hertz location for the first time and had a really positive experience. The car itself was in great condition, and while the trunk wasn’t spotless, it was a minor issue overall. The price was much more affordable than renting out of Philadelphia and figuring out the to and from to the airport, which was a big plus. What really stood out was the customer service — the staff was friendly and accommodating, and they even drove the car up to the train station so I didn’t have to walk to the garage with my luggage. Returning the car after hours was also easy and convenient. Overall, a smooth and stress-free rental experience. I’d definitely rent from this location again.
Worst customer service and insensitive staff to help the customers and don’t care about their time. Had to wait close to two hours to get the rental. The return time was requested to be adjusted to the pickup time which the agent told the system takes care automatically but I guess not as when I came to return the office closed earlier than advertised and informed so was charged two extra days. Customer service both at the location and telephone keeps telling the other one can do but none did address the situation after three attempts not planning to dispute with the credit card company for the additional charges. Giving one star as that is the lowest Google is allowing.
STAY AWAY! PLEASE STAY AWAY. I have rented all across the country with Hertz, have had bad experiences but this one tops it by far. I called the day before to confirm the car as I need a specific one, they told me yup no problem, arrived and of course the car is no where near what was promised. Mad at this point, and now running late, the car was empty on gas, lipstick stains, smelled like cigarettes covered with air freshners. I had no time to deal with it so took it. Went back into to tell them about the gas, the guy said yes no problem I will mark it down. Then going to return the car and call to confirm that the gas was adjusted before i drop it off (because I dont trust it) and of course it wasn't but she assured me I was okay with the gas level I told her it was at. Arrived for a scheduled pick up at this location, but they had no vehicles available. I had to cancel after paying to travel there. Staff did not offer assistance with alternate transportation to another branch. The closest one was Philly airport. Other branches apparently did not have any cars either. They did not offer any points or anything. Couldn’t even cancel my reservation at the counter, just turned me away and told me to call Customer Service. Customer service recommended locations that didn’t have vehicles and did not offer anything for the inconvenience. Last time (week prior) I booked I arrived at 8am I was checked in and it took an hour for them to get my car because the car was dirty. When I finally got the car it was a quarter tank full. I would like to say Torian and Carnell (under the leadership of their manager Ryan Balistrieri) have restored my faith in Hertz. As a long standing Presidents Circle member, I have been reconsidering my relationship with Hertz after an AWFUL experience at the Philadelphia Airport Location. I was reluctant to move forward with the company, no matter the location, due to how I was treated. BUT, today I encountered Torian and Carnell. Not only did they handle me with time and attention, they went above and beyond for my overall experience. I informed them about my previous experience that caused me great disdain, and they immediately apologized and took accountability on Hertz behalf that wasn’t theirs to take! I was greeted with smiles when entering and they made sure I left with one as well
