Joe Ryan Imported Car Repair

Took my 74 VW bus to Ryan for low power. I made the mistake of telling him I wanted to clean out the mouse nests. He quoted me $1,700 to remove the engine and clean it out. I got it back and nothing improved. I had it towed back 3 times over the course of a year. No improvement. He kept adding additional charges for work not related to the engine. He did the brakes and clutch without my approval. I paid the bill because I trusted him at the time. When all was said and done we were left with the same problems. Took it to an alternate shop. Guy had it for 24 hours and quickly determined it was running on 2 1/2 cylinders. I have taken my Subarus to this place a few times for basic maintenance which they seemed to do well and the costumer service was good. The first time I had a major issue, however, they completely fell apart. We had an automatic steering issue on an older model. It took them over a week to “fix”, at which point they supposedly found a number of other issues, all of which amounted to over 7K. They where surprised when we decided to go ahead with the repairs, which should have been our first sign of trouble. They failed to resolve the automatic steering issue after the first try, said it was just air in the system and dismissed the fact that it still wasn’t working on the second try. On the third try they accused my wife of putting transmission fluid into the engine oil based on no evidence.

Seems this shop has gone downhill since Joe retired and left it to his sons. Their telephone no longer seems to work…..or at least they don’t answer/return calls anymore. When I was able to bring my vehicle in, it took them nearly two weeks to complete an oil change. Bring your car somewhere else.

I scheduled an appointment to address a clanking noise in my suspension. Upon returning, I was told there’s no issue in my suspension, and that an oil change had been done, which I had not asked for. 100$ later, I will now be going to a different mechanic to address my suspension issue.

I got cussed out because the receptionist forgot to give me my registration back. When I got it back it was a receipt of registration not my actual registration mine was not there so I asked about this and the photo is the receptionists response. He then pretended he would help me fix my car as I Still tried to forgive him and be friendly against my better judgement. And he blew me off.
