ONE OFF ROD & CUSTOM (Inc)

I recently arranged to have my 1949 Dodge B1 worked on at One Off Rod & Custom. Initially I brought the truck in for a complete rear end rebuild but once the shop had the truck apart they found issues with the full frame of the truck that occurred in its long history. Gary and the crew at OORC pride themselves in not doing a project just to “get it done” they take pride in their craftsmanship and make fair recommendations to their clients that will help not only make their builds look good but also make it safe to operate by the owner. They communicated with me thought the progress of the frame build and gave me options that would enhance my ride and make it One Off but still respected my budget. Building a dream Hot Rod isn’t cheap, but as the sign says prominently displayed in the shop.

Had a car dropped of here because another shop wouldn't handle it. First off Jared was who I dealt with. Great customer service and excellent job for what was needed. My car was not the type of car they normally dealt with. I had just moved to the area but was stuck at work in Texas so I had my car towed there from another shop and trusted they would do good work. Honestly I was truly impressed with quality of work I received and overall experience. Lastly they are expensive for a body shop but that is because they do excellent work and don't normally deal with everyday cars. My car holds a special place in my heart as a toy and it was nice to see they cared for it in the same way.

It's been a few years since they worked on my vehicle but I haven't forgotten the terrible service and workmanship. I brought it there for minor repairs from a front passenger collision. It was supposed to be a 1 week job that turned into a month. They not only lost my keys, and had to replace the 3 original lock cylinders ( that they never gave back to me) but they caused damage to my vehicle that wasn't there when i dropped it off. Gary the owner told me that the damage was already there and he wasn't going to let me hold him responsible, one of his body guys ("pops")said it happened when they were working on an adjacent part and it broke because the parts were fragile. Some of the parts they did repair weren't even secured properly, there was overspray all over the front bumper from

4 and a half years... For a wiring job that was started and never completed. A job I was told would be a few weeks. Tons of phone calls asking when it will be done or if I can have it back. The response almost always was, " the Boss man isn't in right now" or "so and so doesn't work here anymore and he was the one working on it". I was finally given a response this year. "We're gonna put it back the way it was and give you a refund". That was about 6 months ago. I finally tell them I'm coming to get the car even if it's not back together. And it is far from "back together". Let me say that my car is no where near any type of show car that this place is known for. But they had no problem taking my money. Purchased a set of Dakota digital gauges. Took them over 34 hours of man hours to remove new vintage gauges and replace with the Dakota digitals. When they were done, the dome light no longer worked from the driver door, but still worked on the passenger door. Refused to stand behind their work when I traveled nearly four hours for them and ultimately required me to take my vehicle to a local shop. Gauges are great, but the hassles involved in working with One Off was extremely disappointing. Being charged $90 per hour for 34 hours, even representatives from Dakota indicated this was excessive. Combination of being overcharged and then having to have other items fixed after the fact due to their work, find somebody else to handle your work.
