Payless Car Rental

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Car was all scratched up with paint chipping off everywhere. The inside was worse. Pretty sure it has never been cleaned inside. It was absolutely disgusting. The entire dash, doors, seats were sticky, had boogers stuck on the door. Just filthy. We let a worker know and instead of fixing the problem we were handed a towel to clean it ourselves. I’d give them a zero if I could. We’re expected to pay what they’re renting, but they are clearly not holding to their side of it. Avoid at all cost.

While pick up went quickly, without any long wait or pressure for purchasing upgrades, the car we received was not great. LOTS of damage along every part of the car…dings, dents, and scratches everywhere. Sunscreen stains on the seats and doors, as well. The windows dirty and the washer fluid was completely empty. The car was not cleaned out - we found a ranch dressing and carrot snack tray opened underneath the seats and a dirty hair brush. The wiper blades need to be replaced, they made it feel very unsafe when the rain came down. Not to mention both rear tires have very little tread left on them.

What a nightmare this place is! The line when I arrived was around 25 reservations long and it took 1.5 hours to get to the counter because there were only two people manning the counter. Their primary focus was to sell insurance, not get folks into their vehicles as quickly as possible The older gentleman had clearly retired and was told by his wife to get out of the house because OMG he would not stop yakking. It took him 15 minutes to check one couple in because he would not stop spewing lies about what happens if you don't purchase the overpriced insurance After about an hour in line, two more people started working the counter. Firstly, I do understand that car rental businesses are busy at airport locations especially during weekends with events like the Ironman going on. However, I think it is inexcusable to be so disorganized! I reserved a car 4 days in advance and waited in the long line. Again, I am not upset about waiting. But as I got to the counter just 20 minutes after my reservation time I was informed that they had no cars. That's it. Just casually said we don't have any cars!! I then asked what does this mean. I was told that I could wait about 2 hours, "if I wanted to" [really] because they may have cars returned by then. This is just corporate greed. It's simple math. Had to wait over 3 hours to get my rental car. They are a terrible company to rent from …. They lure you in with cheap rates but then tack on a bunch of fees after you have returned the car. Then it becomes a he said she said debate with customer service.. If you have the ability to walk you are better off than using Payless/Budget
