Today my daughter brought in a 2015 Toyota RAV4 for a brake inspection. The vehicle has 130k miles on it. The tech showed her the wear on the rotors/pads and verbally communicated the brake pad thickness, which demonstrated good customer service. However, I would expect the pad and rotor thickness measurements for each wheel to be included in the written estimate like I would get at the dealer. Some other shops also include photos. The estimate didn't indicate what specific kinds of parts were included in the quote. There are different pads available. Would the calipers be new or refurbished? What was the reason for recommending caliper replacement? Toyota certainly does not recommend replacement at 140k. I would expect more detail for a $84 brake inspection report.
