Customer Reviews
Steve was gruff at first, probably like everyone else - swamped with work and understaffed. The last thing he needed was an out-of-towner in a rental car with a problem. But he agreed to put my car on the rack to see what was dragging on the ground as I drove around. It was just the plastic guard underneath and he quickly took it off for me, charging me $40. I was very grateful and happy to pay the $40. Honestly, the reason I chose his shop out of all those listed in Brattleboro was because of a review by a person passing through saying how Steve had helped him out on short notice. I sensed that he was a decent human being who underneath the gruffness, really wanted to be of help to people. I was right, and I'm so grateful for his help this morning.
I took my vehicle in for an inspection, a newer vehicle in very good shape and well maintained by another mechanic who could not do the inspection for me at the time. I was told the vehicle would not pass due to a bad ball joint and that they could fix it for me the following day. I said no thanks and that I would take it to my mechanic, who checked it out and said he couldn't find anything wrong with the ball joint, or anything in the suspension at all. This adds up because there have been zero symptoms of a bad ball joint (no clunking, noise, etc). It seems these guys are engaging in some shady/fraudulent services/repairs, and scamming people. Thieves. Stay away. Update: I took my car over to Kresge's in Brattleboro now several times. They're honest and provide great service.
I was in a real bind. I was required to be at jury duty at the courthouse across the street and got a flat tire the night before. I limped in the 35 mile drive on a donut tire that morning. "Steve's" seemed to go out of there way to help me out. And the did! Polite and respectful, and they seemed to have a technical competence. It's VERY convenient if you need to be at the courthouse for anything!
I called and they told me that it would cost 40.00 to charge my battery, if I brought it in. When Walmart does it for free,, as does the auto parts store in town. 40 dollars to put a car battery on a charger. It makes you wonder what their other charges are going to be if it's $40 to charge a battery. Either that or they're allowing uneducated people to answer the phone.
Great place to bring your cars! We've been bringing our cars here for about 20 years. These guys are honest and caring. Their estimates are usually right on the nose or close to it. Very fair pricing. No regrets, ever!
