Valvoline Instant Oil Change

On February 24, 2026 at 5:55pm I arrived at Valvoline in Portsmouth New Hampshire I got off of work at 5:30pm and was rushing to get there. I felt nervous that I was arriving at closing time. I did not want to deal with angry employees. I was hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. Ethan was the first employee I saw. He waved me in immediately. Driving up I was prepared for attitudes. Ethan smiled and said “ Welcome to Valvoline”. His smile and tone of voice was friendly and genuine. I took a sigh of relief and asked for an oil change. I explained my nervousness to come in so late to Ethan. His response was so kind and appreciated. He shared Valvoline wants all customers to come in no matter how close to closing time. He smiled and said “We are here for you”. A employee Craig

Staff was nice and attentive and walked me through everything, was in and out pretty quickly. The mechanic working on my car didn’t not tighten my oil plug tight enough and it therefore leaked and sprayed into other parts of my vehicle. Couple that with the fact that this was the most I’ve ever spent on an oil change is insane. I’m glad this doesn’t seem to be their standard but unbelievably frustrating and costly. Update: prime example of a business replying to a review to make it look like they care for the easy PR. Seems like they never intended to make things right. Spoke with someone on Saturday that I had to get the oil leak cleaned due to my car smelling like something was burning. Included other details as well and they said they would see what that they could do about a refund

Kevin is great, he’s super friendly and kind. Suggests what he really thinks you need without making it feel like he’s just trying to get an unneeded upsell. I’ve had him as a tech before but had him again today and you should give that dude a raise he’s the shit. Plus my 9 year old son is also a ginger so ginger solidarity for LIFE.

Called before heading in as it was my first time using them. The tech gave me an instant quote and offered to send over a $10 coupon. I drove over during lunch break. The bays were all full when I got there but they had me in within 5 minutes. The techs were all smiling, friendly and professional. I was given options for add-ons (with information explaining what they are for) but zero pressure to do it right now. It was a great experience and I will absolutely be using them for now on. The price was exactly what I was quoted :)

Everyone is super nice, service is quick, the folks running seem quite knowledgeable, and you feel like your car gets taken care of well. Though there are cheaper services out the there, my car likes being there.
