Avis Car Rental

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I had a confirmed reservation, showed up on time, and was then told there was no vehicle available after my time was completely wasted. To make it worse, I was later called and told a vehicle WAS available. When I got there I was told I could only RENT the vehicle if I provided a co-signer. I am renting a vehicle, not financing or buying one. I’ve rented cars many times and have never heard of such a ridiculous requirement. On top of all that, the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive instead of helpful or apologetic. Poor communication, poor customer service, and completely unprofessional handling of a situation they created. If you value your time or expect basic competence, I strongly recommend renting elsewhere.

Never again! Would give it zeros if I could. First vehicle I was offered, was filthy inside and out, including a clump of mud and grass stuck in the crack of the bumper. When I opened the door, reeked of marijuana, hair, crumbs, and debris all over inside the vehicle. I went back in the office to tell the salesman where he gave me a surprise look and said he had just cleaned the vehicle. He then came out and said he would give me a coupon for Delta sonic across the street to get a basic wash and he would vacuum it out quickly. He also said he had a strong spray for odor eliminator. After watching his poor attempt for five minutes of vacuuming, including the dried tomatoes on the upholstery in the back, I said, I would not take this vehicle. So I showed up on the Friday i was to pick up my rental only to find out the only pickup left was due for a service and would not be ready until the next morning. I left and came back the next morning and picked up the truck. First it was absolutely filthy on the inside which was very disappointing because I prepaid for this truck to use for a month. As I was getting ready to leave on my business trip on Sunday morning the truck stalled twice in the middle of traffic. I took it back to the lot but they did not have another truck for me to take. I had to get picked up and taken to another rental car company as I had to leave on my trip in 3 hours! I'm honestly not even sure where to start with this one. My daughter is in town for the holidays and needed a car for her stay. She reserved online & when we went to pick up the car in Hamburg, they told us they didn't realize she actually NEEDED all 7 passenger seats, so they didn't have anything big enough. The associate instructed us where to go a few miles down the road, though, in Orchard Park, and assured us they had a vehicle. We drove to OP, then had to go through all the same question & answers with the representative at this location. My daughter explained she's visiting from out of the country & it's been a long time since she's been in the driver's seat. We made our reservation months in advance for a luxury vehicle. We go to pick it up and there's not a luxury car to be seen. The guy tries offering a Camaro, no thanks. We ordered luxury. We end up in a bare bones Tacoma. We still got charged the luxury amount, since we prepaid. The interior of the vehicle was filthy. Seriously, the passenger seat was stained, scuffs all over dirt build up in the step area and rips in the interior. We needed a vehicle and we were stuck with what was there. Then, the vehicle maintenance light came on within 20 minutes of our trip. I find this absolutely unacceptable. This is either poor planning on the manager's part, or plain out stealing from the customer - almost bait and switch. Do better.
