Budget Car Rental

Okay let’s be real. Budget Car Rental in Cape Canaveral gets horrible reviews. The wait is long, the staff is rude and the cars are dirty. Here’s reality. Mike and his staff are hard working and do the best they can under the pressure of handling five cruise ships worth of customers in the building the size of a shoe box. Yes the line was horribly long, but it moved efficiently. It took me 35 minutes. If you are in line reading this, I started near the bathroom. I had to listen to every transaction previous to me and not one member of the staff was remotely rude. I had rented a full size sedan and ended up with a full size SUV. The building could be ten times bigger but it’s NOT! Be kind when you get there and take a deep breath and you will be on your way before you know it.

Shockingly horrible experience from start to finish. Long wait lines with a short staff, rushed inefficient check in. Car assigned was blocked in and not accessible and filthy so clerk switched me to another car that was scratched and dented and also dirty. Was informed cars are only rinsed off and insides not cleaned, both cars were filthy and manager stated I should be careful putting my own brand new clean carry on inside the car (which was wheels up). Took an hour just to get out of there. Manager stated after I pointed out the car damage it is the renters responsibility to take photos of the car with a time stamp before leaving. We arrived Friday morning and it was super busy. Which was expected since there were 5 ships in port. These employees worked very hard to deal with the huge crowds of people being dropped off by the masses. I was in the far back of the line but they had 4 people working the counter along with the manager who was the one who helped me, got us through very quickly. We had reserved too small of a vehicle but he helped us get a larger size and we were out the door fast! Will definitely rent from this location again! Thanks again!

After reading several mixed reviews about this Budget location, I was a little hesitant and even made a backup reservation at another car rental company—just in case. However, my experience turned out to be completely smooth and hassle-free. I rented a minivan from Virginia and dropped it off at this facility before taking an 8-day cruise. After the cruise, I rented another minivan from the same location and returned it in Stafford, VA. Both times, the process was quick and efficient—the total time spent at the counter was no more than 10 minutes. I made both reservations online, so I can only speak to that process, but from my experience, everything was very straightforward and convenient. We had great service at Budget. Martha was amazing. It was efficient and she was such a blessing and saved us money. It was very quick, we returned the car and got the shuttle in 15 mins. Highly recommend! Big thanks to Martha as well.
