I’ve had two great experiences! They took my car even when they were booked out two weeks in advance because they knew it wasn’t safe for me to drive. They are willing to check things out and fill up a tire if they see it’s flat. They communicate well about prices and what you want them to do. Very easy to work with and talk to. They really care about keeping customers safe on the road.

Took my vehicle in because the transmission went out They charged me $7,000 for a rebuilt transmission and not a new transmission couple weeks after it was shifting hard slipping I take it back in the guy drives it for 5 minutes while it was cold said there was nothing wrong with it. Transmission troubles usually don't show until the transmission gets up to temperature So if you're driving it cold you're not going to notice it so I asked them to drive it on the highway and one of their employees drove it and confirmed the issues that I was claiming but again the mechanic atom said that there was nothing wrong with it after they documented that another employee drove it and confirmed it and now I'm several days without a vehicle and getting ran around in circles. I have been coming to Johnson's for the past 3-4years for my mechanical needs. They have always been honest, helpful and never have treated me wrong! Greg at the front desk is awesome! He's knowledgeable and answers all my questions! This business has looked out for me when I have had car troubles and very trustworthy.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Johnson’s Automotive in Big Rapids was a complete disaster from start to finish. I only brought my van in because of an oil leak at the rear of the engine and the brake pads needing replacement. They replaced all rotors, all brake pads, and the rear main seal. After a month and a half of delays—even after I stressed the urgency—they still couldn’t take the van when I arrived. Once they did, they kept it a week and a half—promising three days—and still didn’t fix the issues. The van came back with the ABS light on, a dangerously loud exhaust, and a shifting problem they claimed wasn’t their fault. After they “finished,” the van wouldn’t even start in their parking lot after hours—I had to wiggle loose battery cables just to get it goin

My family and I just arrived home safely (four states away) thanks to the kindness and compassion of Johnson’s. My wife and I and our dogs were headed home from our vacation up north when our emissions system light came on. After arranging roadside assistance, I called Johnson’s and immediately felt at ease after speaking with Greg. We arrived shortly before close, and rather than putting us off, they immediately set to work on our car. They stayed three hours late, fixed the car ( new battery, new tires, and an oil change to fix the initial issue) road tested it, and charged us a fair price. They went above and beyond to get us back on the road safely, and they even let our Poodles wait inside with us while they did! We are forever grateful.
