Ron Marhofer Nissan: Service

Most of the time, you have to be wary of repair shops. Ron Marhofer Nissan service is not one of those. They've never done anything but take good care of my needs without me needing to worry about being taken. Since I bought my car 4 years ago, I've dealt with many of the different service advisors and every one of them has genuinely cared about my needs and taken good care of me with excellent customer service. I take my car to them for everything from oil changes to brakes to windshield wipers because I know I can trust them. I don't normally highly recommend any business, but this is an exception. I highly recommend their service department.

The Good: The service manager apologized and took care of my oil change and tire rotation. A small plus. The Bad: Marhofer as a car dealership has really gone downhill since Ron retired and his son Chris took over. He has continually attempted to cut costs and raise prices at the expense of the customer (and customer service and experience.) One example: pay with anything other than cash and you'll be hit with a 3+% service charge fee. I made an appointment a month in advance for a warranty recall repair so that they would have a vehicle for me (which I all but had to beg for.) Dropped off the car at 11am and was given a timeframe of 3-4 hours. Called them at 4pm to find that nobody had even touched the car. UPDATE: I tried to call again today (Feb) and still their AI is answering the phone. Additionally, I am still getting automated communications requesting that I return for service. I'm starting to think that people don't work in this service center anymore. I guess I'll have to actually drive into the service center to talk to a real person ... I bought four new tires here about 2 years ago with a lifetime warranty for rotations so I want to get that without getting any other service from these folks just too lazy to answer the phone. Nice clean facilities and professional staff. Business practices are a problem, HIGH Shop fee (14%), and Credit Card fee assessed if pay with a CC. Majority places do not charge a fee, CC increase their cash flow, reduces delinquencies but now expect customers to pick up the cost. Why bother having them do oil changes, air filters, brake jobs... and get hit with a 3% fee for using your credit card. Doesn't make sense go somewhere else that doesn't charge a convenience fee!
