Avis Car Rental

I had an extremely unprofessional experience with Avis Car Rental in Mason, OH. I called on 12/22 to confirm my reservation and was given no indication of any issues. Then, only 30 minutes before my scheduled pickup time, I was called and told that they did not have the vehicle I had reserved—for a trip I was already preparing to leave for. This kind of last-minute notification is unacceptable, especially after proactively confirming the reservation in advance. A reservation should mean the vehicle is available, or at the very least, that the company communicates issues well ahead of time so customers can make alternate arrangements. Reserved a car online that I needed in a pinch and under short notice - I get it, not ideal for a non-airport location. In the middle of ubering to the location to get the car, the agent called to tell me that they had no cars. Was already on the way so I figured I would just figure it out when I got there. When I walked in, the guy at the desk could not be more uninterested in helping me. I asked if he could check with other Avis locations in the area so I’m not booking cars and ubering all over with no success. All he was willing to do was “give me the corporate number” so I could do it all myself. Customer service is dead.

Before I left with my rental vehicle I made sure to ask what would happen if I missed my return window by 30 minutes or an hour due to traffic or weather. I was told technically I was paid up until the following day at the exact time that I picked up my rental vehicle so not to worry and to just put the keys in the dropbox. That is exactly what I did (and I wasn't even late) And I was still charged late fee even though I did not put them in the dropbox late. I called Avis and asked them to waive the late fee And not only would they not waive the late fee they would not let me speak to a manager. Horrible customer service and also the people in the store should probably learn to tell their customers the correct thing when they rent a vehicle.

Horrible. Reservation made more than a week ago, went to pick up the car and were told "sorry, we do not have cars available ". No alternative were given rather than calling a phone number, where we were told AVIS does not guarantee reservations... what is the point then of making a reservation, if you don't guarantee neither notify cars are not available until you get there?

The 23 Charger we rented was perfect for our trip to Florida. Rode and drove great. The only negative thing was the outside cleanliness of the car could have been better, and windows could have been cleaned. Staff was friendly and very informative. Great car selection. Will definitely use you services again.
