The Elder Homestead at Minnetonka

My Mom has been at Elder Homestead for the last year and a half. She is in the memory care unit and is very happy there. The whole staff has been wonderful and they take good care of her. She likes the food and most of her fellow residents. They have fun activities, like a lunch outing at a local restaurant, painting , singing, crafts and happy hour on the veranda, just to name a few. I feel I was very fortunate to find such a wonderful home for my Mom. Goby

My wife has been at Elder Homestead, in memory care, for almost 2 years and likes the surroundings. She has made several close friends with other residents. She enjoys the meals and all the activities that the activity director arranges. These activities include special periodic dinners where outside family can attend. Other activities she enjoys are Lunch outings at local restaurants, Bingo, weekly social hour, Exercise programs, Manicures and Outside entertainment groups. Most of all she loves the friendly Staff.

My Mother has been a resident here in Memory Care now for over two years. The staff are wonderful and caring. Food is excellent. I wish my mother could participate in more of the activities they offer but she is very frail and tires quickly. Highly recommend this facility.

This is a wonderful place where my mother-in-law staying the staff is always so considerate and works really hard to make people comfortable. We always get notified if there’s an issue and we have worked with the people at VOA to make sure that my mother-in-law has a quality life.

Beware!!! Two residents ended up with identical black eyes on their left eyes and caregivers claimed they were caused by "falls on the carpet". When reported to director of nursing and residence director they stated "no further investigation was necessary" even when Caregivers stated residents, "Fight them". Reported to MAARC. Neighbors of building report screaming of residents throughout the night and call 911. Many residents need mechanical lifts but management refuses to allow them. Residents are being transferred unsafely without mechanical lifts as management says they aren't allowed there. Assisted living facilities are allowed to use mechanical lifts but management said that's against the law which is not true. Very unsafe for residents and caregivers. They refuse to use mechanical
